WHY GAP MINISTRIES

When a missionary has to step away, the work doesn't stop.

Missionaries serving in foreign countries sometimes need to return home for furlough or step away from their churches for another season. When that happens, the church still needs someone to preach, teach, serve, encourage, and help carry the responsibilities of the ministry.

Gap Ministries exists to help meet that need. Our desire is to make ourselves available to pastors, preachers, and assistant pastors serving in foreign countries when they need someone to temporarily step in and help their churches continue moving forward.

OUR STORY

It started in Tanzania.

In 2024, we traveled to Tanzania on a missions trip. While we were there, we were presented with an opportunity to return with our family and serve for a month while missionaries were away on furlough.

After much prayer and counsel, our family decided to step out by faith and return to Tanzania in 2025.

For one month, our family served at Faith Baptist Church in Morogoro, Tanzania, taking over for the Morrow family while they were on furlough and serving alongside Pastor Jerry Wyatt.

What we experienced in Tanzania opened our eyes to something much bigger.

This wasn't just a need in Tanzania.

During our time there, God began to show us that He had given our family an opportunity to help meet this need in other places around the world.

That is how Gap Ministries began.

Step In

Come alongside missionaries when they need to temporarily step away from their churches.

OUR FAMILY

A family willing to go.

Gap Ministries is a family ministry. We believe God can use an ordinary family that is willing to step out by faith, go where He leads, and serve wherever there is a need.

We don't know where the next opportunity will be. But we want to be ready when God opens the door.

OUR SENDING CHURCH

Sent by the local church.

Gap Ministries is sent and supported through Marion Avenue Baptist Church in Washington, Iowa, under the leadership of Pastor Joseph Brown.

We believe missions should be carried out through the local church, and we are thankful for the opportunity to serve under the authority and sending of our home church.

Our ministry exists to help other missionaries and churches—not to operate independently from the local church.
